The final colour nite for the 20th century was held on the 2nd of December at 6.00 pm, at the college premises. The minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, and Plantations Hon, Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka who is also a distinguished old anandian, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Our former principal Mr AP Gunarathna, The President of the OASC Mr Manju Fernando, The Secratary of the OASC Mr Isuru Samarasinghe, and the National Rugby cpatain Mr Asoka Jayasena who himself is an old anandian, were recognised as the guests of honour.

In recognition of their excellence in their respective sports, 97 coloursmen were bestowed with college colours. The highest award to be won by a sportsmen at ananda, the "ANANDA PADMA" was awarded this year to Dinuka Chivantha Ranaweera (Tennis), Asela Pradeep Kumara Perera (Swmming), and Jayamal Bandara Wijerathna (Swimming). By establishin two new record for the U 19 100m free style event at the Age group's swimming tournament and the Sri Lanka Schools Swimming tournament, and by bringing home two silver medals and one bronze medal from the recenly concluded VIIIth SAF games, Jayamal Bandara Wijerathna proved himself to be the "Most Outstanding Sportsman" for the year 1999. As in previous years, this years colours nite too was a glamorous event.

The "Rhythm of the Maroons" kept the beat going on while renown artists such as T.M. Jayarathna and Edward Jayakody made special guest appearances. As in all occasions the college prefects handled this colors nite with a great sense of pride and prestige. Chamikara Moses did a fabulous job in the stage arrangements while Sampath Perera, Birendra Katugampola, Mahesh Rathnayaka, and Rajitha Amarasinghe carried out the announcing. At the end of it, all present dispersed with unforgettable memories filled up in their hearts.
